Details
Part of Walker’s complete overhaul of KCP&L’s HPFF pressurization installations, the new Crosstown plant was the final and most important feature of KCP&L’s pipe-type system. Crosstown is a dual ladder, 6,000 gallon plant with PLC based controls.

Details
Walker was awarded multiple contracts for the design, build and commissioning of over 60 RTU systems. Walker’s RTUs are capable of monitoring current, voltage, temperature and cathodic protection rectifier operation for underground pipe-type transmission lines.

Details
Walker was awarded a blanket order for the upgrade of HPFF pumping plant telecom infrastructure for a major Northeast electric utility. The project included the engineering, design, installation and commissioning of an automated system that transmits data including plant tank level readings to an internal server via a wireless modem installed in the plant.

Details
Walker designed, fabricated, installed and commissioned a 20,000 gallon dielectric fluid facility with dispensing station to support the New York utilities HPFF transmission feeders. Working with the FDNY and NY DOB, Walker’s plant was approved for operation in 2022.

Details
Walker teamed up with New Jersey Transit for the design of a updated Snow Melter Panel. Walker’s snow melter system is considered essential equipment for rail operation in Winter. Walker’s design has been vigorously tested against the strictest AREMA specifications including EMI, environmental and shock and vibration.

Details
Walker’s CBI panels allow seamless implementation of the IEC 61850 substation automation standard including digital tripping through ethernet via Generic Object Oriented Substation Events (GOOSE) messages as well as distributed automation through Manufacturing Message Specification (MMS) messages to limit external DC and AC wiring. The primary purpose of the CBI Cabinet is to operate the circuit breaker under automated / manual command and operate the circuit breaker disconnect switches.

As an emergency vendor on a critical project, Walker was asked to step in to design an emergency mobile fire pump system to be installed at Atoria’s LNG plant. Walker facilitated and complied with all FDNY and utility requirements and delivered a system that duplicates the flow and pressure of LNG’s fire protection system.

Details
As part of New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program, Walker US supported the NJ utility on its AMI technology deployment – designing and building over 160 AMI Expansion Boxes. The AMI boxes communicate with the smart meters, creating an integrated communications network between the customer and the utility.
